What started as a shared passion between two nurses has grown into a busy local ear care business serving people across Enniskillen, Lisnaskea and beyond.
This week’s Enniskillen Mix Business Spotlight introduces Ear Purity, a nurse-led ear wax removal service run by Rachel and Brenda.
From nursing colleagues to business partners
The story behind Ear Purity began through nursing.
When Brenda retired from her role as sister of the treatment room, Rachel took over the position. Despite never having met before, the pair quickly became friends and discovered they shared an interest in ear care.
Both had completed microsuction training and were already helping patients independently, with Brenda seeing people in Lisnaskea and Rachel working in Enniskillen.
“We started sending patients to each other,” they explained. “That shared passion became Ear Purity.”
Four years later, the business has grown considerably.
Clinics in Enniskillen and Lisnaskea
Ear Purity now operates from premises in both Enniskillen and Lisnaskea, offering ear wax removal using microsuction and ear irrigation.
Appointments are available seven days a week, including daytime, evenings and weekends, while house calls are also available.
The pair also visit Tempo Pharmacy and Melvin Pharmacy once a month.
“It has grown beyond anything we imagined,” Rachel and Brenda said. “What started from a shared passion has become a busy local business with two premises, house calls and customers travelling from across Fermanagh and beyond.”
They say support from the local community has played an important part in that growth.
Building a reputation through word of mouth
For Rachel and Brenda, providing a friendly and professional service remains at the heart of the business.
“We genuinely care about every patient,” they said. “We pride ourselves on being professional, honest and friendly, using the best equipment and never pushing unnecessary treatments.”
Much of Ear Purity’s growth has come through recommendations from existing patients.
“Our patients’ recommendations and word of mouth mean everything to us.”
