This September, the stunning Fermanagh Lakelands will provide the perfect backdrop for a unique blend of art, relaxation, and luxury as Lough Erne Resort hosts its exclusive “Sketch & Stay” weekend retreat in partnership with Hambly & Hambly and acclaimed Irish artist Eamon Colman.
Taking place from Friday, 12th September to Sunday, 14th September 2025, this three-day creative escape invites guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of Lough Erne while developing their artistic skills under the personal guidance of one of Ireland’s most respected contemporary painters.
A Weekend of Art, Inspiration & Relaxation
The retreat begins on Friday, 12th September, with a warm welcome and a guided art tour hosted by curator Ciara Hambly. Guests will then meet artist Eamon Colman over a light lunch before the first workshop, “Sketching the Lough Erne Landscape”, sets the tone for a weekend filled with creativity and discovery.
On Saturday, guests will enjoy a luxury breakfast before diving into vibrant morning workshops exploring colour, handmade milk paints, and plein air techniques. That evening, an exclusive visit to Hambly & Hambly at Dunbar House, Enniskillen, awaits, complete with a prosecco reception, followed by a sumptuous dinner at the Resort’s award-winning Catalina Restaurant, overlooking Castle Hume Lough.
The weekend concludes on Sunday, as participants bring together their new skills to create a personal take-home painting on canvas under Eamon’s expert guidance. After a relaxing Sunday lunch at the Catalina, the final workshop offers time to refine and complete their artwork — ensuring each guest leaves with not just a painting, but also a renewed sense of creative confidence.
