Fermanagh Concert Band is getting ready for a special evening of live music in Enniskillen as Sounds of the West comes to the Ardhowen Theatre later this month.
Taking place on Saturday 29 August at 8pm, the concert will bring musicians together from both sides of the border for an evening featuring everything from popular contemporary pieces to Irish music, jazz and sea shanties.
Musicians coming together
Fermanagh Concert Band will be joined by fellow musicians from Sligo, with performers coming together through a shared love of music and live performance.
According to information provided to Enniskillen Mix by Fermanagh Concert Band, musicians from Fermanagh, Sligo and Ballyshannon Concert Bands will be involved on the night, performing a selection of lively and popular pieces – including music from Queen.
The Ardhowen describes the concert as a celebration of music, with jazz, contemporary and Irish standards performed through woodwind and brass.
The event also provides an opportunity for Fermanagh Concert Band to perform on the Ardhowen stage while joining forces with musicians from neighbouring counties.
Special guests joining the band
It won’t just be the concert bands taking to the stage.
The Buoys of Ballisodare will bring a selection of sea shanties to the evening, while singer Farrah Bogle will perform Irish and jazz melodies.
The concert is supported by the Shared Island Civic Society Fund.
For Fermanagh Concert Band, the night promises to be an opportunity to showcase local musical talent while performing alongside musicians and special guests from further afield.
Sounds of the West takes place at the Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen, on Saturday 29 August at 8pm. Tickets are priced from £15.
