Childhood Dream Becomes Reality With New Irvinestown Shop

A childhood dream has become reality for Timea with the opening of Europa Provision Co., a new independent shop bringing Hungarian specialities and unusual treats to Irvinestown.

A childhood dream of owning her own business has become a reality for one Fermanagh mum with the opening of Europa Provision Co. in Irvinestown.

Located at 15 Fairgreen Street, Europa Provision Co. officially opened its doors on 1st August 2026, offering an unusual mix of Hungarian speciality products alongside imported drinks, sweets and snacks from around the world.

But behind the shelves of unusual Fanta flavours, artisan chilli sauces and Hungarian honey is a much more personal story.

For owner Timea, opening her own business was something she had imagined doing since she was a child.

“While many people dream of the perfect wedding, my dream has always been to have my own business and a happy, balanced family life,” she told Enniskillen Mix.

From an online idea to an Irvinestown shop

The idea finally began taking shape after changes in Timea’s family circumstances meant she needed work that offered greater flexibility and allowed her to be there for her children.

After leaving her previous job and spending almost a year out of work, she decided it was time to try turning the ambition she’d carried since childhood into something real.

Initially, the plan was much smaller.

Timea intended Europa Provision Co. to operate entirely online, allowing her to fit the business around family life.

The business began in May 2026 with support from Go Succeed, but the idea soon developed beyond an online shop.

Europa Provision Co. held a trial opening during the Irvinestown Truck Festival in July, before officially opening its Fairgreen Street shop on 1st August.

Bringing a taste of Hungary to Fermanagh

Timea is originally from Hungary, and bringing some of her home country’s products to Northern Ireland has been an important part of Europa Provision Co. from the beginning.

Her original idea included selling Hungarian smoked products and chilli sauces, with an early plan involving products from her brother’s chilli farm in Hungary.

Although that arrangement ultimately didn’t go ahead, Timea decided to continue pursuing the idea of making Hungarian chilli products a central part of the shop.

After researching different producers, she began working with Sárréti ChiliFarm.

There is, however, one slightly unusual detail about the woman selling artisan Hungarian chilli sauces.

“I really don’t like chilli myself,” Timea admitted.

Honey was another product she wanted to introduce — although even that idea initially received a mixed response at home.

Timea asked her children what they thought about stocking Hungarian honey. Their first answer was that it wasn’t a good idea, before they eventually changed their minds.

That prompted another search for the right producer, eventually leading to a relationship with Magyar Méz Manufaktúra, whose range includes premium Hungarian honey, propolis and jams made with honey.

For Timea, choosing the right products is about more than simply filling shelves.

“I don’t simply want to put Hungarian products on the shelves; I want to choose products that I feel proud to represent here in Northern Ireland,” she said.

Unusual drinks, sweets and snacks

The Hungarian products are only one side of Europa Provision Co.

When Timea decided to turn the business into a physical shop, she also wanted to give people a reason to discover something they wouldn’t necessarily find during an everyday trip to the shops.

Customers can find unusual Fanta flavours, American and Asian drinks, sweets and snacks, alongside the Hungarian range.

Rather than filling the shop with exactly the same products all year round, Timea wants to maintain a selection of regular favourites while continually introducing different items.

“I wanted there always to be something interesting or unusual on the shelves that customers might not necessarily find in everyday local shops,” she explained.

More Hungarian products planned

Despite only opening in August, plans for Europa Provision Co. are already developing.

Timea hopes to expand the Hungarian side of the business with additional sweets, including Túró Rudi, following requests from customers.

She also plans to continue searching for unusual drinks, sweets and snacks to regularly introduce to the shop.

In the longer term, the aim is to establish Europa Provision Co. as somewhere people can return for their favourites while still having the opportunity to discover something they haven’t tried before.

“I would like Europa Provision Co. to become a local shop where customers can find their regular favourites while also discovering something new or unusual,” Timea said.

For a business that began as an idea for a small online shop just a few months ago, opening the doors in Irvinestown has already turned a childhood ambition into reality.
